Christmas Q & A zach

Anyone else counting down the days until Christmas?! We're helping pass the time by answer Christmas questions to learn more about our staff. Check our Design Director, Zach's, Christmas themed Q&A by reading more!

Q: Do you open gifts on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?

As a family we have our kids open one Christmas Eve gift. This gift has pajamas, a book and a movie. We open the rest on Christmas morning. I have always enjoyed waking up early and opening gifts. I am also the one who likes opening gifts one person at time. I want to extend this process as long as possible.

Q: What is your favorite Christmas time tradition?

Every Christmas Eve we watch the movie Christmas Vacation and wrap presents. My wife and I have been doing this for 10+ years.

Q: What are the Top 3 Christmas movies?

Christmas Vacation is my top movie, Christmas Story is second, and Elf is third!

Q: What is the worst or weirdest Christmas gift ever received?

It's been a long time but as a kid my sister and I would always get matching sweaters to wear for family pics or special occasions. I would always hate opening these on Christmas.

Q: What is your favorite Christmas season recipe (drink, cookie, meal, etc)?

My wife makes these "No Bake Peanut Butter Balls" They are amazing!

  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 cup crushed graham crackers
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup butter softened
  • 8 ounces semisweet or other baking chocolate
  1. In a large bowl, combine peanut butter, graham cracker crumbs, powdered sugar, and butter. Stir until uniformly combined and smooth.
  2. Shape into teaspoon-sized balls and place on a baking sheet or tray lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Chill at least 30 minutes.
  3. Melt chocolate according to package directions and stir gently until smooth. Using two spoons, dip peanut butter balls into melted chocolate and transfer to lined baking sheet. Chill at least 30 minutes to set chocolate.

Q: Do you prefer eggnog or hot chocolate?

Eggnog all the way!!

Q: Do you like colored lights on your tree or white? Big or small?

I like all white lights, small. In my opinion it's the only way.

Q: Favorite holiday memory as a child?

As a kid we lived a long distance from any family so it was always just my parents and my sister and I. Every Christmas Eve we would spend it with friends having chili and then we would load up our car and go around town looking at lights. This was a great memory as a kid.

Q: What is on your Christmas wish list this year?

The older I get the less I think about a Christmas list's. However, I always love good coffee, and gift cards!

Q: Real tree or fake tree?

Fake with lights attached! Fake trees are convenient. All you need to do is drag it out once a year and you’re good to go.

Q: What was your favorite gift?

I remember one Christmas getting the original Nintendo game console. I was so excited to play duck hunt and Mario.

Q: What is the most important thing about Christmas to you?

Time with my family is special, but it also a time to reflect and remember the birth of Jesus. Not just as a baby being born in a stable but the fact the God sent His son to be with us. My faith is important and the Christmas season is a time to reflect and consider what this means.

Q: Christmas letter, card, photo card, or nothing?

Nothing.....It's always an after thought.

Q: Do you have a charity you serve or give to at Christmas?

As a family we always adopt a family or child to bless during Christmas.
