Our Web Design Process in 6 Easy Steps

Our web design process inThinking about building a new website can be a daunting, but it doesn't have to be. Partnering with an expert can help make the process simple and pain free. Let us walk you through the website building process we use at 5j from start to finish. You will see how easy it can really be!

1.Getting a Quote

You've decided you want a website, but where do you start? First, you do your research on local web design companies and decide 5j is the best fit for you. You give us a call and give us a brief explanation of what you want out of your website (what it needs to do, number of pages, if you want to provide your own content or have it written by one of our talented copywriters, etc.). We then put together a quote for you detailing everything you asked for. Once approved, we move on to step 2!

2. Creative Brief

After you have decided to work with 5j, we want to get to know you better. We will set up a time to meet with you and dive into what you want from your site. We will discuss everything from target audience and functionality to colors and design details. In this meeting we will also go over what your site needs for content, which will help us develop a site map (or outline of pages on your site) to help you (or us) write content. Once we feel like we have a good grasp on your business and what you need out of a website, we will move on to step 3.

3. Content Brief (optional)

If you choose to have one of 5j's copywriters create your content for you, we will schedule additional time at your creative brief to continue discussion with one of our writers. You will have the opportunity to speak into all the areas of your business that you would like included on the website. In this time, your copywriter will ask pointed questions to really understand you and your company's voice. They will then get to work writing the content for your site!

4. Design / Theme Choice

At this point we will start the design process with a moodboard. This will include colors, textures, image styles, and an initial home page layout to give you an idea of the design direction that we are proposing for your business. Once you have reviewed the moodboard, we will make changes or additions based on your feedback. Then upon your approval of the design direction, we will choose a theme to design your website around based on the moodboard.

5. Population

Once a theme has been chosen and all content and images have been received, we start on the population of the site. This includes adding all of your images and content into the theme, as well as creating/finding any additional graphics. Once this step is completed, you will have a live temporary site to click through and review. We will make any edits that need to be done before making the site live.

6. Finalization

After the site is populated, we will allow you time to review the entire site. Our team will then make any edits you need before making the site live. Once you are happy with how the site is looking and all content has been added, the site is ready to go live to the public! We will publish your site and then train you on the platform so that you have full access to making any changes in the future.

Congratulations! You now have your very own shiny new website. We love building websites and want the process to be as simple for you as possible. Building a website doesn't have to be hard!

If you have more questions about the website building process, give us a call or send us a message. We will be happy to answer them.
